Come, Holy Spirit — Becoming a Spirit‑Led Community

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses…” Acts 1:8 (NIV)
There’s a quiet but unmistakable stirring happening in our church family right now. You can sense it in worship, in the growing hunger for prayer, and in the conversations that linger after the service ends. Our latest series, Come Holy Spirit, is tapping into that longing — not by offering clever ideas or polished strategies, but by calling us back to the very heartbeat of the early church: life in the Spirit.
Why This Series Matters Right Now
We live in a world that is loud, hurried, and constantly pulling our attention in a hundred directions. It’s easy for faith to become something we manage rather than something we live. But the Holy Spirit refuses to be reduced to a routine. He awakens desire. He disrupts complacency. He breathes life where things have grown dry.
This series is an invitation to slow down, to listen again, and to rediscover what it means to be a community shaped not by preference or personality, but by the presence of God.
A Spirit‑Led Community: More Than an Idea
When we talk about being a Spirit‑led community, we’re not describing something mystical or unreachable. We’re describing the kind of church Jesus envisioned — one where:
God’s presence is the centre, not the programme
People are transformed, not just informed
Prayer is the engine, not an add‑on
Gifts are welcomed, not feared
Stories of God’s activity are normal, not rare
We move at the Spirit’s pace, not the pace of pressure
We expect God to speak, not hope He might
This is the kind of community the early church lived out. And it’s the kind of community we believe God is forming here in Holywell.
The Spirit Awakens Hunger
One of the core truths we’re exploring is that spiritual hunger isn’t something we manufacture — it’s something the Spirit awakens. If you’ve felt a pull toward prayer, a desire for more of God, or a sense that He’s preparing you for something new, that’s not coincidence. That’s the Spirit drawing you deeper.
And when a whole community begins to feel that same pull? That’s how renewal begins.
What We’re Learning Together
Throughout this series, we’re exploring the Holy Spirit’s role in:
Awakening desire
Revealing Jesus
Empowering weakness
Giving gifts
Producing fruit
Leading us daily
Shaping us into a people who reflect His presence
Each week builds on the last, helping us not just understand the Spirit’s work but respond to it.
Where This Is Leading Us
Our prayer is simple: Come, Holy Spirit — make us a people who follow Your lead.
Not a church built on charisma, trends, or human strength, but a community marked by God’s presence, God’s power, and God’s love.
We believe this series is laying foundations for who we are becoming as Hope Church Holywell. It’s not just teaching — it’s formation. It’s invitation. It’s preparation.
